Give the League a Hand in 2011

Leaguers,

This was an incredible year. We stuck together and we reached for goals that we've never tried for before. Help us make 2011 even better by taking a moment to donate: action.theleague.com/donate-me

This year, we’ve had our ups and downs, we’ve seen a lot of wrong and a little right, but in the midst of all that, we’ve had some great successes in recent months;

    * We've brought on a new organizer in Lewiston/Auburn, and we're bringing the voter guide and our organizing support to young people across the state of Maine.

    * We tackled immigrant voting rights and have educated countless folks about what it means to have the right to participate and the challenges that immigrants face on the road to citizenship

    * We’ve helped to make sustainable issues a theme of the future, rather than an esoteric interest. People are starting to realize that there’s power in taking control of public transit, and we're ready to work on expanding the Zoom public bus beyond Biddeford/Saco to Lewiston/Auburn and Augusta.

    * This election cycle showed that our endorsement process and our elections committee's work is an inspiring and crucial elucidation of what it means to not only be involved, but to be fair, open and to give everyone a voice in the process. In other words, our internal work IS democratic and is an amazing model of what CAN be done!

They say young people are the future.
