Local Issues Committee -- Launch!

5... 4... 3... 2... 1... Blast off! We've just launched our Local Issues Committee, and we're ready to rock and roll. It's our belief that politics begin with the grassroots and the local, and now we've got a specialized committee to help synthesize these beliefs into action. Check out the Launch event at our new Flickr site.

Change begins with the individual and then branches out, which is why the League likes to focus in on you, our membership and voter base, and on local issues that affect you. Empowering an individual to make change in his or her own world creates a ripple effect--it may start small and localized, but the ripples soon begin to turn into waves, and hopefully, a tsunami-like tidal wave slams some change where it is much needed.

The Local Issues Committee launched with this principal in mind: educate and motivate regarding local issues, and that will create the ripple-effect we've been waiting for.

Our Leaguer Patrick Banks captured the energy of the launch meeting awesomely in our shiny and fresh League Blog. Check it out!
