Our Strategic Framework

OUR MISSION: To build a voting block of young and disenfranchised people in PA who wield political power.

OUR MISSION:

To build a voting block of young and disenfranchised people in PA
who wield political power.

Core Approach:

Organize disenfranchised communities to identify and analyze issues, and work to change the policies that impact their lives.

How We Work:

·         Go to meet constituents where they are – live and work, play and wait

·         Identify problems and concerns through surveys and conversations

·         Register people to vote

·         Analyze input from constituents, and external environment to cut an issue and design a campaign

·         Re-contact people we meet, educate them on the issue/campaign solutions, gain buy-in, and engage them to act

·         Identify and support constituent leaders/taste-makers who move others to action

·         Build momentum and support for campaigns by identifying partners, garnering media coverage and utilizing nontraditional communication tools

·         Advocate for desired policy change and hold elected officials accountable

·         Get constituencies out to vote on elections

Our Core Constituency

We are a diverse core of young and disenfranchised people, who want to make a difference. We focus on engaging people with low-levels of political participation in high density areas, such as:

1)      Schools and college

2)      Public housing

3)      County jails

4)      Cultural events and youth gathering places

Core Values

We believe…

1)     voting power will impact public policy.

2)     when we feel how public policy affects our lives, we will collectively engage in the political process.

3)     in advancing sustainable solutions that build our communities for the long-term.

4)     committed volunteers lead authentic community change.

5)     our organization’s role is to serve our core constituencies

6)     elected officials and government exist to serve and respond to the needs of the people, and not special interests.

7)     a progressive movement must engage diverse people across race, ethnicity, class, income level, age, sex, gender, and sexual orientation.

10-year Long-Term Goals (by the end of 2018):

1.       A voting block of 100,000 young and disenfranchised regular voters across the state

2.       PA institutes legislation to create a statewide, jail-based voter registration system

3.       PA institutes election-day voter registration legislation

4.       A majority of legislators in local, statewide, and PA federal positions will support policies that improve the situation of our core constituency

5.       Voter turnout among core constituencies in 4 major cities doubles

6.       A cadre of young civic leaders that move others to vote and take positive political action
